Welcome to Europe

I love Europe, there is something special about the history, perhaps just that there is history compared to Canada, a relatively new country. The amazing little towns and villages, some of which make you feel you are in a different century. The diverse countryside is beautiful with mountains and valleys, forests and meadows, cliffs and sandy beaches and so many rivers meandering around the cities and villages. Always something new around every corner.

Every country has it’s own niche and is interesting in its’ own right. I have not discovered much of Europe despite having grown up in England.  I left before I realized that it was interesting.

Travelling around Europe is much easier than in North America.  The rail system is mature and where trains can’t go, you can be sure busses do.  Europeans rely heavily on this infrastructure and it tends to be a relatively affordable way to travel as a visitor.

After many years, my husband and I finally took a river cruise from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was an amazing week on the boat followed by a week in the Netherlands and Belgium. We were away for 2 1/2 weeks and it just left us wanting more and now we are planning where to go next in Europe.

Check out my Cruising page here for a video of our river cruise and check out my Germany page to see the wonderful places we stopped along the way.
