The Wonderful United States of America!
\
Welcome to America, the land of the brave and free. Americans respect their military like no other country I have been. It is heart warming and humbling. With my husband being a war enthusiast, I have been exposed to many new experiences, from visiting the USS Midway in San Diego, to riding horses across the Civil war fields in Virginia. We usually balance our trips out with visits to wineries, antique stores or the fabulous and fun amusement parks, Disney and Universal Studios. While driving from place to place, we stop in many small and wonderful historic towns with some of our favourites being St. Augustine in Florida, Savannah in Georgia and Williamsburg in Virginia along with some surprises we stumble into like Solvang in Santa Ynez valley, California and Carmel by the Sea just south of San Francisco. Not to be forgotten are the great outlet malls all over the country and with sales tax rates a fraction of what they are in Canada, shopping has to top your list of things to do.

Step back in time to the 19th century through the Civil War and the fight to free the slaves. Harpers Ferry is in a very strategic position at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers and with its location in North Virginia, both the Confederates and the Union wanted control of this town.
Come spend a day in this historic town and explore the surrounding areas in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.
Napa and Sonoma, a beautiful place to spend a couple of days and visit the quintessential wineries of California. Another place added to locations I need to revisit.
San Francisco, California, a very busy, colourful, amazing city where you can do 10,000 steps in just half a day. Parking is very expensive so I advise going without a car and booking a tour of the city, you will not regret it. Enjoy our quick tour around the city.
When you think wineries, Virginia is not the first State that comes to mind, however, when looking at the number of wineries per state, Virginia is in the top 10 with over 250 wineries. Most of the wineries are small and family-run with unique tasting rooms. My husband and I love to drive so I try to pick 3 to 4 wineries in remote locations because the drive is usually half the fun of the trip.
Come see some of the wineries I visited on a recent trip to Harrisonburg, Virginia.
There is so much to do in Virginia, Antiquing is one of them. Just like wineries, we enjoy visiting Antique stores because of the drive. My husband loves to drive and the Antique stores give us a destination. Come and find out my top 3 in the Harrisonburg/Charlottesville, Virginia area.
