One of the best meals I ever had was at Emeril’s Table 10 restaurant at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, however, it has since closed so I won’t go into detail. I had the tasting menu with wine and it was simply amazing and worth the $150 price tag.  I would definitely try another of Emeril Lagasse’s restaurants.

As for hotels, I stay in many different types of hotels from budget chains to B&Bs to the elite 5 star.  Although I have listed 2 of the elite hotels below, I have had many an enjoyable stay at much more reasonable hotels and will add them in time. I only have a couple of main requests of a hotel: clean bathrooms, clean sheets, clean floors and superior customer service. .

Zorros is our go-to steak house located near Toronto Airport. We have been going to Zorros for more than 30 years, mostly just my husband and I but occasionally with family.

Conrad by Hilton in Miami, Florida, has been my favourite hotel for a few years now.  I first visited with my sister, using Hilton points. The lobby is on the 25th floor and from the moment I stepped out of the elevator and smelt the fragrance in the air, I was charmed.

My husbands meal of choice is the Zorros cut roast beef which is enough to feed the family and often does in the leftovers we take home.  Sunday lunch hot roast beef sandwiches, awesome!  My favourite meal is the petite filet mignon, a delicious 8 oz tender filet served with fresh vegetables and baked potato. Every meal starts with garlic toast and monster pickles and olives.  Most meals are served with a starter salad, the blue cheese dressing is the chunkiest, richest, tastiest I have ever had.  The clam chowder is another favourite of my husbands while the kids usually order the ribs.

Every once in a while, we order either the Chateaubriand for 2 or the amazing Zorros platter consisting of lobster, shrimp, scallops, crab legs, back ribs and filet mignon. An amazing feast.

Definitely not a cheap meal but absolutely, a fabulous one!

We spent one night here pre-cruise and loved it.  So much so that we cancelled a post-cruise DoubleTree to rebook here.   When we returned from our cruise we found we had been upgraded to an amazing 2-bedroom suite with balcony. We decided to stay in and ordered room service.  They did not disappoint and it was a fabulous meal. There is a roof top pool and bar across the driveway in the next building. After a busy cruise, this was just what we needed. Being a Hilton Diamond member also gave me access to their nightly appies and wine in the well stocked wine bar. I have always immensely enjoyed this perk but  unfortunately, on our last trip, new management had taken over and they no longer offer this benefit. Very disappointing.

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, California opened in 2017 and I grabbed an amazing Hilton points deal.  My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary.  The rooms are gorgeous and the bathrooms elegant. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching Beverly Hills traffic.

We had hoped to dine at the Rooftop by JG restaurant but due to some mixup and being delayed by LA traffic, it didn’t quite work out. I was very disappointed and we settled on room service.  This too got messed up due to an iPad room switch up. When it finally arrived, it was still hot and was one of the best meals we have had!  Room service breakfast the following morning was equally as scrumptious. The staff made right on the reservation and room service mix up and I was pleasantly surprised when the General Manager called me later the next day to ensure I was happy with how I was treated. Amazing customer service can make up for most mistakes.
