2018 CNE Warrior Day Parade

Spent a fun day at the Toronto CNE on Warrier Day. A fabulous parade to recognize and thank our Veterans. This parade was is the longest running Veterans parade having started in 1921 here at the CNE. This year it was a perfect day, sun shining and temperature around 21C. Various marching bands entertained us and we had the pleasure of cheering for friends of ours participating in the parade.

After a long awaited but too brief visit with friends, we went on to explore the rest of the exhibition.   My ride days are long gone but love to see everyone having fun.

There is plenty of shopping to be had at the CNE.  In the Direct Energy Building we walked quickly by the big companies such as Panasonic, Glacier Spas and Btah Fitter preferring to spend our time immersed in the International Pavillion enjoying artifacts from around the world. Around the building are the typical sales pitches by Vitamix, various kitchenware companies and Eurosteam irons (of which I already own). At the back of the building is the warehouse section with deals on clothing and kitchenware. We spent a couple of hours wandering around the Direct Energy Building and when we were done it was time to attack the famed Food Building.

This is always the toughest part of the day and after spending 30 minutes walking up and down and round and round, we both headed off in different directions to fulfil our cravings.  Not sure why but the other person’s food always looks better but no worries, what is mine is mine and what is my husbands’ is also mine so I get to try everything.

After lunch we headed off to the Shoppers Marketplace. This is like a local street festival x 10.  So many vendors in one place.  I love the sights, colours, sounds and even the people everywhere. One of my favourite vendors  is Talii Towels who sell microfibre towels of all colours and sizes and they can even be personalized. Feel free to check them out (no, I am not being paid for this recommendation):   https://taliitowels.com/

Across the road is the Arts and Crafts Building which now houses farm animals.  We can’t spend long in here due to hubby’s allergies. Between the two buildings is the Outdoor Market.  Think Flea Market and you get an idea of what is here.  Cheap socks, sheets, leggings, summer dresses and of course CAA, Toronto Star and Costco!

After all that shopping and with 10,000 steps on my tracker, it was time to indulge in Tiny Tims Donuts.  What is the CNE without those little sugar coated morsels? A final walk around the busy midway and we are ready to call it a day.

The CNE, always fun, interesting and definitely exhausting!

Until next year….
