Welcome to Canada
Chateau Frontenac, Quebec
Welcome to my Canada, the place I call home. Canada is a large, diverse, multi-cultural country. My husband and I are starting to explore more of it but it is very expensive to travel in Canada. Our air taxes are very high and we can often fly south cheaper than staying within our own country. With our provinces so large and with lakes in the way, driving across country can take days and is not feasible for a one-week vacation.
I have been lucky to have visited many provinces over the years even though some were some for a brief stopover. I hope to rectify that in the coming years.
My husband and I like to travel locally and are discovering small towns and villages in Ontario. We are always looking for a great coffee shop or a unique antiques store or just a quaint downtown area to walk around.
Below, I share where I have been and prove that there are great places to visit in our country.

Prince Edward County Wineries and Cideries
Come visit Prince Edward County (PEC) and be surprised with the landscape and fabulous wineries and cideries. Mostly known for Sandbanks Provincial park, Prince Edward County has so much more to offer and you can easily spend a few days exploring the county. I have had the opportunity to visit several of the wineries and one amazingly beautiful cidery. Come and enjoy all PEC has to offer.
Orillia, Ontario
Orillia, a city 2 hours north of Toronto, in Ontario, has a friendly, small town feel with numerous coffee shops, cafes, bakeries and restaurants all with the backdrop of Lake Couchiching.
Orillia is the gateway to Cottage country and is a great place to spend a day or a week.
Mont Tremblant, Quebec
Mont Tremblant, best known for being the greatest ski resort in Eastern Canada, is also a fabulous place to visit in the summer. Walk around the quaint pedestrian village, ride the luge go-karts or take an exhilarating Zip-trek tour and speed down kilometers of zip-line. Amazing scenery from the mountain and fun zip-line video.
Niagara is open, come for a visit
The Pandemic has shut down the world but we are finally starting to re-emerge from our cocoon and getting back to some semblance of our lives. Now we must get out and support the businesses in our Province. Summer is in full swing and now is a perfect time to visit the Niagara wine region. I spent several days of my recent vacation visiting many wineries and am happy to be sharing them with you.
Spring means Rosé in Niagara
A beautiful early spring day made for a perfect birthday visit to Niagara’s Bench area as I searched for a perfect Rosé for Easter lunch. Over the past few years, I have noticed more wineries jumping into this fabulous variety. I find it very versatile and has become my go-to after work drink. With summer coming, and it really is coming, I will be stocking my wine fridge with plenty of Rosé.
I discovered a new favourite on this trip, Foreign Affair Winery. I fell in love with their story and their appassimento style wines. So smooth and clean. Can’t wait to go back in a few weeks when everything is in bloom.
Wine, Dine & Shop in Niagara-On-The-Lake wine region
Come and see how I spend 4 days in Niagara Wine country. Lovely hotels, fabulous meals, great wine tasting and lots of shopping. In general, just fun!
Spend a relaxing day in Collingwood
Join me as I spend a lazy day in Collingwood and Blue Mountain Village located an hour north of Toronto. There is so much to do in Collingwood, you can make the day as active or sedentary as you like.
If you just want to spend a day relaxing, think about spending the day at Scandinave Spa. Have a massage and just relax on the grounds and in the pools. It is a destination in itself and I did not visit on this trip.
A short trip to Nova Scotia
I spent a fabulous long weekend in Nova Scotia attending a family wedding and finding time to see the beautiful towns around Halifax.
